Ski movies from the 1980s are inherently awesome and dumb: crazy party dudes who have to save the mountain from rich guys/jerks by partying/winning a race.
To wit, Fire and Ice, a hard-to-find 1986 ski movie made in Germany directed by Willy Bogner, a former ski champion and clothing designer. Sounds like a good resume for a movie director. The English version is narrated by John Denver (seriously) and you know it’s good when the first line of the Wikipedia synopsis is “While the movie has a plot, it is essentially irrelevant.” The sequel, Fire, Ice and Dynamite, featured Roger Moore as a sort of Lames Bond.
While it may be hard to find Fire and Ice on video, at least there are some nuggets saved on YouTube, like this, “Ski Dance.” If you were trying to think of the most 80′s thing possible, this might be it.
It‘s quiet in here! Why not leave a response?
